Frequently Asked Questions

What does the design process include?

The design process begins with learning your goals for your home as well as your basic aesthetic preferences. Every client is unique and requires different levels of guidance throughout the process. Some clients already have a design style and just need help with selections and seeing the details through to the end, while others need more assistance finding their style and creating a beautiful space from scratch. Some clients just want a starting point to build on, while others want their space finished down to the last detail. Throughout the process, we enjoy getting to know you and learning how you function within your home. This process allows us to provide you with a plan for what can be achieved with your home project, along with visuals to help you envision what the final state of the space will look like.

How do I determine my budget, and why is it important in order to get an estimate?

Home remodel and renovation projects are large long-term investments that require thoughtful planning and consideration. Similar to purchasing a home or a car, it's important to have an idea in advance of what is feasible within your own personal budget. The range of cost for remodel projects can vary drastically based on material selections and how much detail is included in the project. When we have an idea of budget in advance and can compare that to your goals for your project, this helps us guide you toward realistic options while staying within your financial means.

Do you create custom house plans?

While we can assist you in floor plan layouts for the functionality of your home, we do not create custom house plans. We have personally worked with Advanced House Plans and highly recommend their services. They provide stock plans that can be purchased and customized, have beautifully detailed virtual renderings of plans, and can work with you on your specific goals.

What size projects are you able to take on?

We provide both design-only and design-to-build construction services. Whether it's one area in your home that needs transformed, or an entire "flip" within a home, we've handled countless design and construction projects of all sizes. As we remain a two person team, our focus is on the visual and functional aesthetics of a home. While we are able to remove walls to open up spaces when the structure allows, we are not currently taking on major framing/drywall/insulation work such as additions. We receive many inquiries on finishing basements, and we are happy to make recommendations for contractors to assist you with the build out and can work with you on the design and any additional interior construction needs once that work is complete.
